So, what’s up with the site name, you ask?
Originally, (way, way, way back) I had this idea to run stand up comedy open mic shows in Chicago at local bars on slow nights for the bars. Also, I had some friends who were trying to make money as caterers and, well, I really like chocolate cake and apple pie, and, frankly, dessert. So I figured, what the hay?, why not combine the two and have a caterer of the night on the side of the bar / restaurant / venue, whatever, and combo the two events.
Plus, “high octane” is too fuel oriented and people aren’t drinking gas (well, not usually) and moreso, gasoline isn’t usually available at the bar so …yeah, why not “high calorie”?
Alright, what’s going on now?
It’s 2020 and there is a freaking worldwide pandemic and I’m tired of the news. So, I’m thinking, maybe, just maybe, this idea can be resurrected. I’m not sure how we bring the desserts into the mix but I can definitely see that a lot of comedians are screwed for work right now. Also, I want an advertisment free place to store the stuff I find funny. Maybe there is a way to run a “Feed the Comedians Bake Sale”. We’ll see. I’m not running this to get rich. Though, I should point out, there might end up being some monetization or fundraising. But, assuming you’ve read this far you probably noticed 4 sentences ago that I mentioned a Bake Sale so …yeah…we’ll see.
